Defining categories

One of the things that fall in the preparation of the editorial plan is the definition of categories, which are the first level in contents classification.

In SevenDaysWeb a content can be assigned a main category, which can be displayed in the menu, and a secondary one that can be displayed as a sub menu of the main category. More levels would generate confusion, and are not necessary because keywords provide additional support in classifying contents.

A useful suggestion, when defining categories is to use synthetic but appropriate names. According to SEO rules, this improves ranking of related content pages by search engines.

Keywords usage

Keywords provide a cross-classification of contents, meaning that contents belonging to different categories can be classified with the same keyword.

SevenDaysWeb allows you to assign each content a list of keywords that will be included in the "tag cloud", ie the list of all keywords used on the site. This list also shows the number of contents related to each keyword. Clicking on a keyword displays a page with summaries of all related contents.

Wise management of keywords mainly comes from experience and common sense, but it is extremely important. In fact, in addition to being used in the tag cloud of the website, they are used by search engines to index and categorize content and also by users to search for content.

Keywords should both be of interest to the audience and relevant to the contents.
